Home Energy Audit Program (Ontario Ministry of Energy) The Home Energy Audit Program is a $24 million 4-year energy conservation initiative that will subsidize home energy audits in Ontario. An audit will evaluate the energy efficiency of a home and outline improvements to the heating, cooling, hot water heating and other uses of energy in the house that could result in energy savings. Anyone who lives in Ontario and owns a single family home is eligible for the program. The Home Energy Audit Program will provide a rebate of 50% of the cost of the pre-retrofit audit up to a limit of $150.
Summer Savings (Ontario Power Authority) If you reduce your electricity use by 10% this summer, your participating local electricity utility, with support from the Ontario Power Authority, will give you a credit on your upcoming electricity bill. No need to sign up, you are automatically enrolled.
Cool Savings Rebate Program (Ontario Power Authority) Get up to $800 in rebates by choosing Energy Star heating and cooling equipment.
Office of Energy Efficiency - Grants and Incentives (Natural Resources Canada) The federal government’s Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) is helping Canadians save millions of dollars in energy costs while contributing to a healthier environment. Among its programs are the new ecoENERGY Efficiency Initiative to reduce energy use in buildings and houses, industry, personal vehicles and fleets. Homeowners and owners of small and medium-sized organizations can also apply for financial assistance from ecoENERGY Retrofit, as well as other grants and financial incentives.
Energy Efficiency Assistance Program For Houses (Ontario Power Authority) The Energy Efficiency Assistance (Pilot) Program is one of several projects designed to encourage a culture of energy conservation throughout the province. This pilot program will give low-income homeowners and tenants the tools they need to make more effective energy decisions, while at the same time putting money back into the pockets of those who need it most.

Hydro Ottawa's Peaksaver Program is designed to reduce the demand for electricity in Ottawa, particularly on hot summer days. Pilot program participants receive a special programmable thermostat that can be remotely instructed to change its current temperature setting by one or two degrees, when electricity demand is peaking in the province.

Toronto Hydro's Peaksaver Air Conditioning Program allows you to help reduce the demands on Ontario's electricity system, simply and effectively through a peaksaver switch installed on your central air conditioner. During critical times (typically on hot summer days), a signal can be sent to cycle your system down to reduce the amount of electricity it uses.

WATER CONSERVATION AT HOME
Watersmart Peel's Toilet Replacement Program offers rebates to residents who replace inefficient toilets with water efficient models or high efficiency toilets.
City of Toronto WaterSaver Rebate Programs offer toilet and washing machine rebates for residents and businesses. In addition to the rebate, Toronto has a program that pays businesses to run in a water-efficient manner.
ALTERNATE ENERGY SYSTEMS
Solar Energy Systems Rebate Program (Ontario Ministry of Revenue) The Solar Energy Systems Rebate returns the sales tax paid on solar energy systems to homeowners or builders, who install the energy systems into residential premises, including multi-residential premises, or who expand or upgrade an existing solar energy system. Solar energy can be used to power small appliances and large systems can create enough energy to take a home off the electrical grid. Solar thermal systems can be used as an alternative to electrical heating systems.
Wind, Micro Hydro-Electric and Geothermal Energy Systems Rebate (Ontario Ministry of Revenue) As part of the 2004 Ontario Budget, the Ontario government expanded the sales tax rebate for solar energy systems to include wind energy systems, micro hydro-electric energy systems and geothermal energy systems installed in residential premises. Rebates are available for qualifying alternate energy systems or its components, or upgrades or expansions made to existing or new systems purchased on or after March 28, 2003 and on or before November 25, 2007.
MORTGAGES
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Mortgage Loan Insurance Refund CMHC has added environmentally friendly features to the Mortgage Loan Insurance it offers. If you use CMHC insured financing to buy an energy-efficient home, purchase a house and make energy-saving renovations or renovate your existing home to make it more energy-efficient, a 10% refund on the Mortgage Loan Insurance premium may be available. You could also have the added flexibility of a longer amortization from 25 years to a maximum of 40 years.
Citizens Bank Green Mortgage helps new homeowners retrofit their homes and set up a green lifestyle with a complementary home energy audit, a $10,000 low-interest line of credit, coupons and product samples from local green businesses, and a $100 donation to the Conservation Council of Ontario.

TRANSPORTATION
Vehicles Powered by Alternative Fuels (Ontario Ministry of Revenue) People who purchase or lease new or used cars, trucks, vans and buses may qualify for a refund of the sales tax if the vehicles operate or are converted to operate on an alternative fuel. The refund can amount to as much as $750 for propane vehicles, $1,000 for another alternative fuel and $2,000 for HEVs delivered to purchasers after March 23, 2006.
Public Transit Pass Tax Credit (Canada Revenue Agency) The Government of Canada is encouraging Canadians to use public transit with a tax credit on the cost of monthly or longer duration transit passes. The tax credit is applicable for buses, streetcars, subways, commuter trains and local ferries.
ecoAUTO Rebate Program (Transport Canada) The ecoAUTO Rebate Program encourages Canadians to buy fuel-efficient vehicles by offering rebates from $1000 to $2000, to people who, beginning March 20, 2007, buy or enter a long-term lease (12 months or more) for a fuel-efficient vehicle. The list currently includes new cars getting 6.5 L/100km or better and new light trucks getting 8.3 L/100km or better. The list features hybrid electric and highly energy efficient vehicles. In addition, new flexible-fuel vehicles with combined fuel consumption E85 ratings of 13.0 L/100km or less will be eligible.

The Community Go Green Fund The Community Go Green Fund (CGGF) is a four year, $6.6 million dollar program that provides funding for local projects that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The CGGF is a component of the Ontario government’s plan to fight global warming.
